
The team consisting of Romanian Bernadette Shox and Austrian Sofia Polkanova won the gold medal in the women’s doubles of the European Table Tennis Championship, which is held in Munich. Romanians are on all three steps of the women’s doubles podium.
In the final, Shoch and Polkanova beat the Romanians Elizaveta Samara and Andrei Dragomanscore 3-0 (18-16, 11-6, 11-9).
“I am very happy because I was disappointed after losing in the mixed doubles final. I am happy that I won and went down in history.” – Shoks said after the final.
Romania also has a bronze medal in women’s doubles won Adina Deacon. Deacon paired with the Spaniard Maria Xiao lost in the semifinals to the team of Bernadette Shox/Sofia Polkanova (Romania/Austria) with a score of 0-3 (2-11, 7-11, 6-11).
The first medal at the current European Championship was won by Bernadette Shox and Ovidiu Ionescu, silver in the mixed team, writes News.ro.
