A retrospective photographic exhibition by the German Johann Leben is currently on display at the Pompidou Center in Paris. A biologist and dragonfly expert, Leben only began his photography career in 1989, at the age of 31, after some experimentation with film. This scientific heritage forms the basis of his artistic practice, characterized by images of nature in which plants, animals and people are presented side by side. Leben’s poetic images, always in black and white, are reminiscent of scientific photographic research or morphological searches for the world. plants, animals and humans, in essence, provide material for a dialogue between nature and culture. Until 09.04.
