A rally will be held near the Ministry of Labor on Wednesday at 12:00.

Starting on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, SNES and EUROPOL are organizing monthly rallies in support of the application of Framework Law No. 153/2017, which has been suspended by emergency decrees since 2020.

Trade union organizations demand from employees of police and penitentiary institutions:

• full payment of the difference in wages (Law 153/2017);

• salary increase by 15%, as in other ministries;

• update of legal norms of full nutrition and equipment;

• updating the size of limited rights, starting from 2010;

• indexation of military pensions in relation to real inflation.

“Although January 1, 2022 would have ended the phased implementation period of the framework law ensuring the elimination of wage inequality, closer to the last quarter of 2022, the Romanian government continues to suspend the law, announcing that only a quarter of the outstanding wage gap will be unblocked,” the quoted source said. .

  • Both police and prison officers have been on the front lines of the pandemic, working under extremely difficult conditions, with poor financial resources and with 25% of staffing schemes unfilled, working impossible schedules, accumulating overtime that destroys their health, contracting COVID or dying in debt

As “compensation,” unions say, the governors refused to grant COVID raises in two areas, suspended the framework law in the middle of the implementation period and left in place restrictions on food standards and other rights, even though the legislation required them to be scaled up to take into account price developments, adding to the threat cancellation of military pensions.

“In an environment where costs have skyrocketed, police and prison salaries are deliberately kept at a mediocre level, outstripping the income earned in low-risk, low-stakes, unconstrained fields. , prohibitions, absolute integrity and constant readiness to complete any mission at any time, regardless of whether it is a week off or a public holiday. We demand respect for our profession!”, the trade unions also assured.
