Alesia Maria Raichu died in her sleep
Carmen Tocala, president of the Romanian basketball federation, confirmed to Antena3.ro that the athlete died in her sleep.
According to the cited source, Alyssa was found dead in her own home with no signs of violence on her body. The athlete was found dead on Sunday morning (August 14).
The cause of death was acute pulmonary edema. Currently, an anatomical, pathological and toxicological examination is expected.
“Most often, sudden death can be a myocardial infarction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or a major arrhythmia.
Not all of these pre-diseases can be observed during the normal examinations carried out for athletes, but they can be latent or occult, so you can find yourself in this unfortunate situation of sudden death”, – Pompiliu Popescu, sports doctor, for Antena3.
Considered one of the promising young teams, Alesia won several medals in junior competitions and made her debut in the National Women’s Basketball League early with Agronomia Bucharest.
Alesia Maria Raicha was considered one of the most talented players of her generation.
