Only 17 years old, Popovici is the world and European champion among adults in the distances of 100 and 200 meters freestyle, and in the first mentioned event he also holds the world record.

David Popovici decided not to go on social media during the Swimming Championships in Rome

To stay focused, David Popovich said he avoids social media so he can sleep soundly.

“I think avoiding checking social media helped me stay focused. As positive as it is, social media can also be toxic.

I knew it would be difficult for me to sleep, so I think it was the right decision. My plan is to continue to work hard and move forward one step at a time.

The junior world record was not really planned. It was a tough race and I think my time was very good. It’s a great period, historic, I think my coach is absolutely happy and maybe I am too.

This is the third best suit of all time and the best of the textile suit era and I was finally able to get under 1:43 which is great.

The immediate plans are to rest a bit tomorrow and then test the water at 400m.” – Davyd Popovychaccording to swimswam.com.

David will also perform in Rome at the distance of 400 m freestyle (races are scheduled for August 17).
