Consumer protection commissioners have proposed the temporary closure of five stores of retailers Carrefour, Lidl, Kaufland and Mega Image located on the south coast for up to 6 months, the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) reports.

Teams of Coastal Command 2022 commissioners – a special structure of the ANPC – checked these days how the legislation in this area is being followed in large supermarkets in the south of the coast. Carrefour, Lidl, Kaufland and Mega Image stores were controlled in Mangalia, as well as a Lidl store in Eforie Nord, Agerpres reports.

For the detected violations, 5 institutions were given 4 warnings and 9 fines for a total of 235,000 lei. Additional measures were added to these sanctions, which included a temporary suspension of the sale of food products worth more than 4,600 lei, a permanent suspension of the sale of food products worth more than 10,000 lei, and a temporary suspension of the provision of services until the deficiencies are rectified. elimination of all controlled stores, temporary closure for a period of up to 6 months of all controlled stores and termination of unfair commercial practices for 3 stores.

“It is interesting that before the control actions were completed, part of the consumers who made purchases were more interested in our promotion than the shortcomings found there. We are working on the ground to protect their health and to convey to business entities that they must respect consumers. this week we will dedicate it to discuss it with the central structures of the big chain stores,” said Horia Constantinescu, president of ANPC, according to a statement sent on Saturday.

Among the most significant violations discovered by the commissioners of the ANPK were: sale of devalued vegetables and fruits or of different caliber, having a lower quality category than the declared one; improper storage of food products; marketing of products, which is a mixture with acetic acid; sale of frozen products with excess ice per product; marketing of Nutriscore labeled products that mentions a certain category without justification; various information errors on the product label; non-compliance with the promotion regime (commercialization of goods of the “7+1″ type without the availability of a reference product on sale, failure to specify the period of the promotion, products in the promotion, despite the fact that the deadline has passed); lack of proper sanitary and hygienic conditions in the area of ​​trade, storage and production of bread; the use of refrigerated display cases with massive accumulation of ice, with non-disinfected shelves, with traces of food liquids, dust, rust, mold and insects; use of unhygienic warehouses; sale of products with damaged packaging; incorrect commercial practice – incorrect name of the product according to the ingredients contained; inconsistency in the price of the product on the shelf and at the cash register; incorrect signaling of the products in the last days of operation,” the ANPC press release states.
