Wimbledon finalist and Washington champion Kyrgios (37 ATP) lost to the Pole after an hour and 48 minutes of play with a score of 7-6(4), (5)6-7, 6-1.
Gurkach (8th seed) will face Norway’s Kasper Ruud (4) for a place in the grand final after the Roland Garros finalist decisively defeated Felix Auger-Aliasime (6) 6-1, 6-2.
