Andrew was released. Lauverdos in the Novartis case

More than five years have passed since a dossier was sent to parliament with ten political figures found guilty of donating as part of an investigation into his illegal activities. Novartiscycle ended with unanimous dismissal Andreas Loverdu.

The former minister and deputy of KINAL PASOK was unanimously cleared of all charges following a decision by the Judicial Council, which assessed all elements of the criminal case that had been brought against him.

After his dismissal, he finally closed the chapter on the involvement of politicians in the illegal actions of the pharmaceutical giant, a chapter that tormented political parties with violent confrontations and long occupied the Ministry of Justice with successive litigation.

The former minister was unanimously found not guilty of any crime, bribery, as the judges ruled that during the lengthy interrogation and subsequent trial, there was no evidence against him.

Since the beginning of the criminal prosecution against him, he himself denied any involvement and claimed, like other politicians who were accused without additional evidence, except for the testimony of protected witnesses, that the charges against him were fabricated.

Of interest is the part of the Court’s decision to acquit Loverdos that refers to the testimony of protected witnesses, noting, among other things, that the charges brought by protected witnesses against ten politicians – and against the former minister – are vague, undocumented, and therefore not supported by other evidence, while This emphasizes that the witnesses in question do not know what they are reporting, neither from their own experience, nor were they present at the events, nor did they convey information about third parties whom they named.

In particular, in the “goodbye” of Parliament issued by the Judicial Council with the rapporteur of the First Justice Athanasios Marneris, it is indicated that there are no grounds for charging Andreas Loverdos with the criminal act of donating a political person, which, according to the prosecution, was committed in Athens since April 1 2011 to May 17, 2012.

The judges also note in their reasoning about the lack of criminal liability of Andr. Loverdos for inflating the prices of controversial Novartis drugs because all the evidence does not support the evidence to support the accusation against the former minister.

He is known for the political and judicial review of the illegal actions of Novartis, the Judicial Council of the Special Court, which assessed the actions and inaction of the former minister Dimitris Papagelopoulos and prosecutors for corruption, Eleni Tulupakis and others, concluded in their exoneration from all charges and the former minister was transferred to a special court for his other interventions in the judiciary, and prosecutor Eleni Tulupaki on specific issues.

Trial in a special court is due to begin on September 19 with Dimitris Papagelopoulos and Eleni Tulupakis as defendants. As for the prosecution of ten politicians, Antonis Samaras, Yiannis Sturnaras, Adonis Georgiadis and others, the case was closed long ago, since nothing came of the testimonies of protected witnesses against them.
