
A group of migrants who, according to complaints, were left helpless on an island in Evros, have not been in Greece for several days, according to the Greek police headquarters, from which it became known that the coordinates of the island given by various organizations are outside the territory of Greece, so the Turkish authorities were informed of the need to urgently take the necessary measures and help people.
The statement released by the Hellenic Army Headquarters reads, in part:
“In connection with reports of the presence on the island in the Evros River of a group of about 40 people who require emergency medical care, it is reported that the relevant information was sent today to the Turkish authorities through the Trilateral Contact Center “Captain Andreevo”. , August 11, 2022, as the coordinates indicate that the island is outside Greek territory.
The Turkish authorities were asked to take all necessary measures without delay to immediately release all persons and provide the necessary and appropriate assistance.
