Latest Domino’s Pizza stores in St. Italy closed after the company went bankrupt.
Franchise company ePizza SpA has been hit hard by the pandemic, according to Bloomberg, which was the first to report it.
Domino’s has been struggling to attract customers to the home of pizza since it opened its first stores there in 2015.
Some social media users welcomed the news of the company’s departure from Italy.
EPizza SpA filed for bankruptcy in early April due to restrictive measures against Covid.
In addition, the company said it faced increased competition as mainstream restaurants began using food delivery apps.
As of 2020, the company had 23 stores in Italy, with six more sub-franchised, according to bankruptcy filings.
By comparison, there are over 1,200 stores in the UK and Ireland, making these two countries the largest market for Domino’s in Europe.
