Like all manufacturers, Opel must also actively work on the electrification of its range. And it is not for nothing that the company also obeys the will of the European Commission, which a few weeks ago voted for a complete ban on the sale of thermal cars from 2035. A relatively short period for brands, which are therefore forced to accelerate the development of their fashion models. This is especially true of the group Stellantis, but it is far from late. Moreover, few people know, but the Franco-Italian firm even sold more electric cars than Tesla in the first half of 2022. A real tour de force, to which we owe an increasingly wide range. And soon it should be expanded with a new model.

Improved version
It will be the Opel Astra, which has been on the market for several months. Technical cousin of the new Peugeot 308the German compact car is currently only offered with heat engines, namely gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid variant. As in France, no electric alternative is currently offered. But it shouldn’t take long, as the German brand confirmed a few months earlier. However, he has not yet provided any information about his technical passport. But there may be a 300-horsepower supercharged version in the pipeline as well. When asked by Top Gear, the brand’s design director Mark Adams said: “Yes, we are working on things that are not too far off, we will be moving in that direction.”
Launching next year
Therefore, several versions will be offered for this German compact. Thus, the most efficient would be equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle for a combined output of 300 horsepower. All this is only hypothetical, no official information has been reported. The entry-level variant will feature 150 horsepower from a single engine. This fashionable version should see the light of day within the next year, as will the zero-emission Peugeot 308.
