Coach Adrian Mutu has extended his contract with Rapid Bucharest until 2025, the Giulesti Group announced on their official website on Wednesday.

“Rapid’s coach Adrian Mutu, whose contract was extended in the summer of 2023, has signed an extension until 2025,” the club’s press release said.

Appointed as technical manager of Rapid FC in March this year, Mutu said the contract extension is a vote of confidence from the club’s management.

“I am very happy about this moment. This is a vote of confidence from the club, which I treat with all seriousness and responsibility! Come on, quickly!”, – said Mutu.

The former forward of the national team of Romania came to Rapid in March, for which he led the team in 14 matches. The statistics of the players of “Juleste” with Adi Mutu on the bench are positive: 10 wins, one draw and three losses, the goal difference is 28-9.

Adrian Mutu’s first game on the bench came on 5 March 2022, when Rapid beat Akademika Klincheni 1–0, with a goal scored by Rares Ilie.

At the start of this season, Rapid collected 9 points from four games, beating FCSB (2-0), Universitat Craiova (1-0) and FC Arges (2-1). The only defeat this season came in the first match 0:1 in Cluj-Napoca against CFR, when Rapid missed a penalty in extra time.

During his coaching career, Adrian Mutu also managed FC Voluntari, Al Wahda U21, Romania U21 and FC Craiova 1948.

As a player, the one nicknamed Il Phenomeno played for FC Arges, Dinamo Bucharest, Internazionale Milan, Hellas Verona, Parma, Chelsea London, Juventus Turin, Fiorentina, Cesena, Ajaccio, Petrolul Ploiesti, Pune City and ASA Tirgu Mures.
