The Athens Council of Misdemeanors unanimously decided to acquit the former minister and current PASOK MP of all charges. Andrea Loverdowhose name appeared in the bribery in the Novartis case.

According to the decision of the Judicial Council in the case of Andreas Loverdos, the case was connected with the accusation of ten politicians who were connected with the testimony of protected witnesses of bribery, in the context of investigations into the illegal activities of the pharmaceutical giant in our country. , was finally closed.

Loverdos was acquitted about five years after corruption prosecutor Eleni Tulupaki sent a file to Parliament with the names of ten politicians, and later a criminal case was opened against him, which was not confirmed by the ensuing trial.

The judges of the Council, after evaluating all the materials of the case, accepted the proposal of the prosecutor Maria Kapsos, who also advocated the rehabilitation of Andreas Loverdos.

By-laws to the ruling issued by the Judicial Council with the Rapporteur of the Court of First Instance, Athanasios Marneris, state that there are no grounds to charge Andreas Loverdos with the criminal act of bribing a politician. a figure that allegedly took place in Athens between 1/4/2011 and 17/5/2012.

The judges also note in their reasoning that A. Loverdos is not criminally responsible for the overpricing of the disputed Novartis drugs, as all evidence does not support evidence to support the charge against the former minister.

The judges dedicate a special chapter to assessing the testimony of protected witnesses codenamed “Aikaterini Kelesi” and “Maximos Sarafis”, noting that their sworn testimony is vague, in the sense that it does not include specific incidents, place, time, other circumstances of the donation. , and the exact amount is not specified, and they themselves were neither eyewitnesses nor related witnesses.
