
This summer, Zaharopoulos’ series of publications “Classical Literature”, which now has more than 250 titles, has been replenished with two new titles. These are two novels by Honoré de Balzac that take us to 19th century France. The widely read “Eugenia Grande” translated by Kostas Theofanous and the lesser known but extremely interesting “Magic Skin” translated by Manolis Skouloudis. Recently, in the same series, Victor Hugo’s classic “The Toilers of the Sea”, also translated by Kostas Theofanous, was republished. Hugo’s reissue of this masterpiece features a “new, more readable layout”.
Annals of Lemnos
On August 19, at the archaeological site of prehistoric Myrina, the book of the archaeologist Dimitris Plantu “The Chronicle of Lemnos” (Myth – History – Heritage), published by the Kapon publishing house, will be presented. “The centuries-old history of the relatively unknown and somewhat forgotten until recently island of the Aegean Sea turns into a fascinating narrative, into a real chronicle of this place and its inhabitants.” There are also “references to the island’s intangible and culinary heritage, as well as musical and dance traditions that are being revived to this day.” The event is attended by archaeologist Carlo de Domenico, archaeologist and historian Olga Mazaris and the author. Excerpts will be read by archaeologist Tina Boloti.
Events for Skaribas
In the birthplace of Yiannis Skaribas, Agia Efthymia of Phokis, this year is “Skaribia”, an official event organized by the local community and the Association of Saints “Agios Efthymios” with the support of the Central Greece region, the municipality of Delphi. and other organizations are being held again.
