The Attica traffic police conducted a special raid on “contras” and other dangerous violations in the coastal zone of E.O. Athens-Sounio, where the results were impressive, as more than 63% of drivers were found to be offenders according to the results of inspections carried out on passenger cars.

In terms of violations confirmed across the country, according to the Ministry of Civil Protection, 71% are related to speeding, illegal parking, not using a safety helmet, not having a driver’s license and not wearing a seat belt.

It is noted that control continues on the basis of the current orders of the political and physical leadership of ELAS. throughout Greece.

From July 31 to August 6, 2022, 97,387 checks of drivers and vehicles were carried out, 22,962 violations were confirmed.

Of the above violations, 4,171 were confirmed in Attica, 3,243 in Crete, 2,109 in Thessaly, as well as:

  • 1954 people in Central Macedonia,
  • 1674 people in Western Greece,
  • 1620 people in the South Aegean,
  • 1333 people in East Macedonia and Thrace,
  • 1313 people in the Peloponnese,
  • 1166 people in the Ionian Islands,
  • 1127 people in Central Greece,
  • 1096 people in Epirus,
  • 1064 people in Thessaloniki,
  • 619 in the North Aegean and
  • 473 in Western Macedonia.

In particular, the confirmed violations concern:

  • 4488 for speeding,
  • 7866 for illegal parking
  • 1650 for driving without a driver’s license,
  • 1559 for not wearing a protective helmet,
  • 798 for an unfastened seat belt,
  • 519 for K.T.E.O.,
  • 483 for drunk driving,
  • 385 for mobile phone use,
  • 384 uninsured vehicles,
  • 221 for signal violation,
  • 208 for driving in oncoming traffic,
  • 188 for non-standard maneuvers,
  • 166 for illegal overtaking,
  • 132 non-observance of the safety distance,
  • 98 for worn tires,
  • 81 for not using child seats,
  • 75 for oncoming traffic on a one way street,
  • 61 to distract the driver,
  • 23 for priority violation,
  • 23 for misuse of lights,
  • 12 for not wearing a seat belt and
  • 3,542 other violations.

Violations on the Athens-Souni Coastal Road

Targeted actions and specialized traffic control of the Attic Traffic Authority were carried out daily during the week from 1 to 7 August 2022 in the area of ​​the coastal E.O. Athens-Sounio, with the aim of combating impromptu races, as well as other dangerous violations that lead to traffic accidents, disruption of transport safety and the unhindered and safe movement of citizens.

A total of 442 traffic rules for drivers and vehicles were carried out and 280 violations were confirmed, for which appropriate administrative fines were imposed.

The following violations were confirmed in more detail:

  • 55 for speeding
  • 18 for drunk driving
  • 9 for not having a driver’s license
  • 6 for not wearing a seatbelt
  • 15 for not wearing a helmet
  • 4 for abnormal maneuvers
  • 3 for running a red light
  • 3 to demonstrate skills
  • 3 for impromptu matches
  • 1 for mobile phone use
  • 84 for other violations

In addition, 13 pairs of license plates, 24 transport licenses, and 41 driver’s licenses were confiscated.

Finally, 1 car was handed over. The control will continue with the same intensity in other areas of Attica, where there is an increased and dangerous crime, as well as throughout the rest of Greece, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents and road safety.
