
The singer and actress has died at the age of 73. Olivia Newton Johnwho left the era as a co-star with him John Travolta in the 1978 film Grease.
The English-born, Australian-raised Grammy-winning singer and actress, best known for her role in Grease, has died after a years-long battle with cancer.
“She passed away peacefully this morning at her Southern California ranch surrounded by family and friends,” her husband said. John Easterling posting it on social media.
As her husband wrote, “She passed away peacefully this morning at her southern California ranch surrounded by family and friends. We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the family during this difficult time.”
He recalls that Olivia Newton-John was “a symbol of triumph and hope for over 30 years” as she shared her battle with breast cancer.
Instead of wreaths and flowers, the family asked for donations in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Foundation.
Olivia Newton-John was born in the UK on September 26, 1948 and immigrated to Australia with her family at the age of 6. She won 4 Grammy awards, and the main role in the musical “Grease” brought her world fame.
