Cătălin Chirilă praises Nicolae Chuke after extraordinary results in the canoe sprint
“Days of celebration for Romanian sport thanks to the extraordinary performances of canoeist Catalin Cirila at the Canoe World Championships in Canada.
Our canoeist rewrites the history of Romanian canoeing and continues the golden path opened by the legendary Ivan Patsaicin.
I wholeheartedly congratulate Cătălin Chirilă on the excellent results obtained at the end of many years of work and wish him success in the future!
Congratulations to the coaches and family, without whose support these performances would not be possible!
Like other Romanian champions, Cătălin is a role model for the younger generation! We are proud of our champions!” – Nikolay Chuka.
After the “gold” of Aurel Makarenko in 1986, this is the first gold for Romania in the C1 1000 meters.
Ivan Patsaicin twice, in 1973 and 1977, and Simion Ismailchuk in 1963 are the only Romanians to win gold in this event.
