A few days ago, Honda finally opened the curtain on the all-new Civic Type R. An all-new generation that has changed a lot from the previous one, especially in terms of aesthetics. And it is not for nothing that the lines have been completely changed, becoming for some much wiser than before. Nevertheless, this high-performance version has nothing to envy its rivals, it still looks very attractive. On the other hand, nothing has been said about it so far technical sheet, although the brand remains very cryptic about it. She then contented herself with confirming that her compact car had become “ the most powerful VTEC engine in its history“, without saying more. Until our colleagues at Auto Ao Minuto provide us with more information. But that’s not all we know about this Type R.
💥 And boom 💥 Here are the first official images of the new 2023 Civic Type R 🔥 🙌 🚀

Plug-in hybrid engine
Indeed, we recently learned that this new generation is to use its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. But, of course, power will be revised upwards, then going up to 330 hp for a peak torque of 420 Nm, a welcome increase, even if we still have to wait for official information from Honda to know everything. On the other hand, if the firm does not want to tell us everything, it gives some small indications of another version. Then it can be plug-in hybridas Ko Yamamoto, Honda Motor Europe’s technical advisor, suggested to our colleagues at Autocar during an interview.

Electrification soon?
In an interview, he said that ” I would not rule out electrification. We can’t build an all-electric powertrain on this platform, but I imagine it could go up to some level of plug-in hybrid. Electrification is another technical measure, like VTEC or turbo, or multi-link suspension“. On the other hand, we are not talking about the release of an electric Civic Type R or equipped with a all-wheel drive. So purists can rest easy for now!
