“Greece continues to prepare for even the most extreme scenarios in terms of Russian flows. natural gas towards Europe,” Vasilis Korkidis, President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in a statement.
Statement by Vasilis Korkidis
“On the one hand, with energy-saving measures of the public sector and the population, and on the other hand, with the provision of electricity with other types of fuel. A concerted effort has already been put in place to supply increased volumes of liquefied natural gas, operate diesel-fuelled gas-fired plants, and temporarily expand the use of lignite. For the supply of increased volumes of liquefied natural gas, a new floating tank car has already been installed with a vessel installed in Revitus, which is ready to receive the first shipments of liquefied natural gas by the end of August. Thus, the storage capacity is almost doubled to 375,000 cubic meters from 225,000 of the existing three tanks, and there is an opportunity to use the liquefied natural gas reliquefaction plant even more. DESFA took all necessary steps in record time to supply additional LNG volumes to ensure sufficiency in case of interruption of flows, thus facing the threat of a “hard Russian winter”.
