According to Der Tagesspiegel, left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht caused outrage with a statement on Twitter in which she criticized the Greens for changing their position on energy policy after the crisis in Ukraine.
“The restart of coal plants shows that climate change is no longer important to the Greens. Today, the mad war against Russia is the top priority for the former eco-party, and even the only sensible solution to the conflict (diplomacy/negotiations) is rejected, Wagenknecht wrote on Monday night.
Wagenknecht is not the first to polarize with his statements about Russia’s behavior.
Shortly before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Wagenknecht said on the air of the ARD TV channel at the end of February: “Russia is not really interested in the invasion.”
Then she called the situation “threatening for Russia” and complained about the aggressiveness with which the US talks about the invasion.
