Wearing a mask in Germany is still mandatory in public transport, in the health care system and in care centers for the elderly.
Under the unveiled plan, a mask would also be mandatory on air travel, and a negative Covid-19 test would also be mandatory for access to medical centers and aged care facilities, except for people who have recently been vaccinated or who have the disease for a short time, follow.
German states will also be able to introduce wearing a mask in other closed spaces, with exceptions for sporting events, cultural events and the HoReCa sector. But people who benefit from these exemptions will be vaccinated against Covid-19, who have a negative test or have had the disease, so people who will present a green certificate.
As for schools, the mask can only be introduced if the regional authorities consider that otherwise it is not possible to maintain classes with presence, its wearing can also be made mandatory in open spaces, if it is not possible to maintain physical distance.
German states will also be able to call for mandatory testing in schools, kindergartens and refugee centers.
Germany is currently experiencing a wave of Covid-19 caused by sub-variants of the Omicron coronavirus, but this summer wave is showing signs of abating, but there are fears that autumn could bring a new wave of infections.
