This particular gold, silver, lead and zinc mine is located 300 meters underground, with arcades totaling about 10 km! This is one of the three common projects that make up the Kassandra mines, developed by Hellinikons Chrysos. The campus mobile network provides the coverage as well as the bandwidth required for the daily operation of the mine. In addition, conditions are being created for its complete digitization.

Through the tablets there is a more direct connection between workers in the mine adits and operators of vehicles and machines with their colleagues on the surface of the earth, and, in particular, in the company’s modern Control Center. In addition, uptime is increased as work shifts, mining and fleet management are organized more efficiently. Efficiency of transmission of critical operational data is also ensured (ore weight during loading, type of transported material, machine breakdowns, etc.).

With this COSMOTE solution, safety is also improved, as in the future the number of workers in each section of the mine will be displayed, and important information will be provided in emergency situations. Also with the help of appropriate sensors measuring the concentration of particles or dangerous gases in the atmosphere (gas monitoring), the Control Center will be able to remotely adjust the supply and air quality (ventilation on demand) or even remove workers as a precautionary measure, if necessary.
