Many times we have seen puppies or kittens suffering from the heat in the summer. A Japanese company has found a solution to this problem by developing a fan that our four-legged friends can wear.

The device, which consists of an 80-gram fan and its batteries, is placed in a breathable vest worn by the pet.

Rei Uzawa, president of pregnancy products company Sweet Mommy, says she got the idea when she saw how tired her chihuahua was every time she took her for a walk in the hot Japanese summer.

The decision has been warmly welcomed by pet owners in the country, as until now they have either avoided walking their dogs or using more traditional methods such as ice packs.

After a period of drought in Japan, during the day the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, while at night the humidity never drops below 25 degrees Celsius.

Authorities are asking people to avoid movement and exercise during the day, while pet owners are advised to take their animals out very early in the morning or avoid walking altogether.
