The Bodosaki Foundation Fellowship Program is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is inviting 69 new fellows to pursue graduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral studies in the 2022-2023 academic year. According to the foundation, of the 69 new fellowships, 36 are for postgraduate and 29 for doctoral studies under the 50th regular fellowship program, and 4 fellowships are included for postdoctoral studies under the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program in memory of “Stamatis G. Mantzavinou”, former President Foundation. Of these, 54 will study in Europe and America, and 15 – in Greek universities.
The above scholarships include, for the first time, the Scholars Scholarship, an additional scholarship offered under the Foundation’s Scholarship Initiative. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the start of the scholarship program, the scientists of the Foundation organized a crowdfunding campaign to collect donations from scientists of past years. With the money raised, the scholarship community is funding yet another scholarship, an initiative that puts into practice the shared values and bond between fellows of the Bodosaki Foundation.
Foundation scholarships cover a wide range of disciplines, including both basic sciences and modern sciences using cutting-edge technologies. This year, when the number of applications was higher than ever, the field of biology and various specialized areas of biomedical technology and life sciences informatics, molecular medicine and bioinnovation, and targeted drug development, retained the first place in the number of applications and approved scholarships. This was followed by the field of machine learning and its applications, and the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology attracted many candidates. At the same time, the current areas of data science, artificial intelligence and robotics, digital technologies, network technologies and microelectronics, energy production and management and materials science, and environmental sciences have not weakened the interest of young people. Finally, bioclimatic design in architecture as well as business and organizational management and statistical and operational research remain areas of ongoing interest.
The Bodosakis Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 to continue the contributions of its founder, Prodromos Bodosakis-Athanasiadis, to Greek society. His vision is a society of equal opportunities, with potential and perspective for all. Since its inception until today, more than 450 million euros have been allocated to achieve its goals, and the number of scholarships awarded exceeds 2,500.
